Freebies and Rebates to Boost Your Garden

Freebies and Rebates to Boost Your Garden

Whether you live in the City of Vincent or elsewhere in WA, there are plenty of ways to get support and help your garden thrive. From irrigation rebates to native plant sales, we've rounded up some of the best programs to make your garden greener, healthier, and more sustainable.

1. Request a Street Tree

Have an empty verge or need to replace an existing tree? You can request a street tree to be planted as part of the City of Vincent’s 2026 Winter Planting Program! They'll carefully select the most suitable tree for each street or area, and their contractors handle the planting, including watering twice a week during the first two summers to help them become established.

2. Treebate Program

Thinking about adding a shady native tree to your backyard? Although you won't get help planting this one, the WA Government’s Treebate program gives you up to $150 back when you buy and plant a native tree that grows over 3 metres tall - available to all WA residents.

3. Waterwise Irrigation Rebate

If your retic system is old, leaky or inefficient, the Waterwise Irrigation Rebate offers up to $200 off when you service or upgrade with a Waterwise-endorsed garden irrigator. You’ll save water (and money) while keeping your garden looking its best - available to all Perth Metro and Peel residents.

4. Discounted Composting & Worm Farming Equipment

The City of Vincent offers subsidised composting and worm farming equipment for local residents (wish we’d known before buying ours!). It’s a great way to cut food waste, create your own nutrient-rich compost, and keep your garden soil healthy. Plus, read our blog for tips on getting started with home composting.

5. Native Plant Sale

While it's not until May, it’s worth marking your calendar because spots fill up fast! The annual Native Plant Sale is exclusive to City of Vincent residents and offers a wide range of local native plants at very affordable prices, making it easy to add beautiful, waterwise plants to your garden on a budget.

If you're not in the area or can't wait until May, you can also check out the Friends of Kings Park Plant Sale which is held 4 times a year.

6. Adopt a Verge Program

Want to transform your weedy verge into a waterwise garden? The City of Vincent’s Adopt a Verge program handles the earthworks and adds a thick layer of mulch, leaving it ready for you to plant and maintain. The program runs twice a year to align with the Native Plant Sale and ideal planting times. It’s so popular that the earliest available spots are for 2027, so it’s worth joining the waitlist now!

Other councils are also offering rebates of up to $500 to help residents swap out lawn for low-maintenance native gardens.

We're here to help

With leafy streets and a sustainability-minded community, it’s easy to see why the City of Vincent was named the best place to live in WA and the second-best in all of Australia

At Clarence Gardens, we love seeing our clients take advantage of these programs and make our streets even more vibrant. If you’d like a hand bringing your garden ideas to life or want to chat about what might work best for your space, get in touch.
